TPU is a thermoplastic elastomer film polymerized from isocyanate, polyol, and chain extender. The soft segments of the molecular chain provide high elasticity, while the hard segments provide strength. It can be manufactured through casting, blown film, and calendering processes, with a common thickness of 0.015–0.2 mm (waterproof and breathable versions are often 0.02–0.1 mm). It is available in transparent/transparent, colored, matte/gloss finishes, and other appearances.
